We went to dinner at Ling and Louie’s the other night. I will sometimes bring my iPad for Emma to play with while we are waiting for our food. She loves to color and read ebooks, play games, and sometimes watch videos. It’s a pretty great distractor for her while we’re waiting.
When the food came I put my iPad in it’s Dodo Case off to the side of the table and then I forgot to grab it when we left. I didn’t realize it until the next evening and started searching the house before I realized it was at the restaurant.
I called right away but the manager said that there was no iPad to be found anywhere. I thought it was gone forever.
In the midst of my devastation, I remembered that when my iPad is in it’s Dodo Case, most people would not realize that it’s a very expensive iPad, and they would just think that it is a normal notebook.

I called back right away and asked the manager if he would go look in the lost and found drawer for my iPad disguised as a notebook. It seemed like forever until he finally came back and said informed me that I was one lucky guy. No one at the restaurant would have ever known or even noticed that it was my iPad and not just a notebook. They had just tossed it in with the lost sunglasses.
I already loved my Dodo Case because of the beautiful design, superior quality, and unique look and feel. It turns out the case is a great disguise for my iPad as well, and it probably saved me from a very very bad ending.

We had a big storm this afternoon where it just poured for about 45 min straight. When I got home grabbed my camera and headed for the creek to see how much water was flowing. The river was completely flooded, more than i’ve ever seen it before, so I took a few photos and sent them in to 9News for their weather section.

One of the best parts of the trip was seeing the kids light up when we did something fun that they really enjoyed. We wanted to have a fun family trip but it was especially important to us that the kids have a fun and memorable trip.

We had a free day while we were in Orlando so we called our friends and former Florida residents Erin and Tyler for some tips on fun things to do. As always, Tyler came through with one of the best suggestions for things to do in Florida…. Airboat Ride!

We did a quick google search on our phones and found Big Toho airboat tours in Kissimmee. The operation was a little foreign compared to all the crazy structured and organized surrounding the theme parks where everything is so set in stone.

Instead, we showed up at a parking lot near the lake, met the guy in the orange vest who pointed us towards the shoreline where the boats are tied up. It ended up being just the four of us on an amazing hour-long tour of the Florida swamps. It was loud and hot, but when the boat was moving and the giant fan was blowing air it was very fun and exciting.

We saw some beautiful scenery, birds and turtles, and even a couple gators. Our airboat captain seemed to know everything about the area and he was a real character.

Me: “Emma, I’m going to take the dogs out for a walk.”
Emma: “OK, I’ll stay here and I’ll be fine…and if any monsters come, I’ll PUNCH THEM IN THE FACE or I’ll poke the in the eye.”
Holy crap! We just saw a guy reach up and grab a pigeon out of mid air at the Rockies game!!! Literally grabs it’s feet as it flew over his head and held it for a min before throwing it up and it flew away…it was amazing!
Emma: “Mommy, I just want to be a ladybug!”

Today I went to pick up the kids from Summer Day Camp and when I arrived Emma was enjoying a Fancy Nancy sticker book with a new friend…
Me: “Emma, who’s your friend?”
Emma: “This is my best friend?”
Me: “What’s her name?”
Emma: “I dunno….”
We were really lucky to have the CSO come to our backyard to play a free concert in Stapleton. They played the Classics, a bunch of stuff we’d never heard of, but it was absolutely fantastic!

Technically this is a Bahamas highlight, since we spent 5 of our 11 days at sea on the cruise or at the Bahamas. The one of the biggest highlights was the day we spent on Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.
The beach was beautiful, the weather was perfect (even with a small 30 min thunderstorm in the afternoon), and we all just had a blast enjoying the island.
When we first arrived on the island Michelle and Evan got to feed, pet, and snorkel with stingrays in the lagoon of the island. We spent some time snorkeling and swimming at the beach and then dropped the kids off in the kids club after lunch so Michelle and I could explore the adults only beach.
The kids had fun, we had fun, it was definitely one of the best parts of our trip.
