We had a great staff retreat in the Mountains the week before school started and I had a chance to try a photoshop technique i’ve been wanting to try for a long time. It’s called Polar Coordinates or creating a polar panorama. It’s also called Wee Planets on some photo sites.

I stood in the middle of the circle and took pictures all the way around, and then tried using some 3D Panorama stitching software to join it all together. I ended up using Photoshop to do most of the merging and cleaning up around the edges, and I think the result was pretty good.
Now I need to try again, but paying more attention to the photos as I’m taking them so I can stitch the photos together better. I hope to try it again with a location sometime in the near future, any suggestions?
August has been filled with alot of fun activities that have kept us all extremely busy. Evan and I have been to a couple more Rockies games and we’ve really enjoyed our time together at the ball park.
We finally got a 2nd car, a really nice used Passat Wagon. It’s a manual drive, so Michelle has been learning and practicing how to drive a stick shift.
Most of our free time has been spent at the Denver Zoo, Museum of Nature and Science, one of the 500 parks, or the Children’s Museum where Emma loves to paint.
I almost amputated my right thumb when I knocked over our block of Cutco knives. They really are the sharpest knives out there, and one of them got me good. I now know where the nearest Urgent Care is and after 8 stitches, I can testify that the Dr. there is very good at what he does.
And we’ve spent a lot of time in Stapleton where they have Farmers Market every Sunday, Movie night on the green on Friday nights, and concerts on the weekend. And, a giant toilet running around to help you remember to conserve water. Denver Public Water really has some creative advertising, but man, what a crappy job.
