Evan and I went golfing for the first time yesterday for his birthday.  A nice guy at the golf course was asking him about his game…

Starter: “is this your first time playing golf?”

Evan: “No, we practice alot at the driving range.”

Starter: “Oh really, how far can you hit the ball?”

Evan: “… ummmm…(pauses)… about 2 or 3 miles.”

The other day I was trying to get Emma to say please and speak nicely when asking for treats.  She wanted some delicious Reeses Pieces and she just kept screaming, so I asked her to repeat after me…

Me: “Can”

Emma: “can”

Me: “I”

Emma: “i”

Me: “Please”

Emma: “please”

Me: “Have one”

Emma: “Have TWO”

Our great friends Doug and Karem invited us to their relatives house in Tehachapi.  The thing about Tehachapi is, it’s exactly 1/2 way between Barstow and Bakersfield, and i’ve been to both places, and neither make great weekend getaway destinations.

When we arrived on Friday night Doug and his uncle met us at the base of a mountain where their driveway went off the main road.  There was about 2 1/2 feet of snow on the ground and we barely made it up to the house without getting stuck in the snow.  The house is perched on the top of a hill with incredible views and wonderful hosts.  We’re having a blast sledding, building snowmen and Igloos, and hiking/skiing around their property.  What a fantastic weekend getaway!
