WOW.  This is the coolest greatest invention Apple has release EVER.  It really is amazing.

I got my iPhone after waiting 12 hours in the 115 sun yesterday.  I called thur night and the ATT rep told me there were people camping out.  I spend most of the night imagining that I was going to be at the end of a 50 person line and i would miss out on my phone.  I woke up early at 5:30, couldn’t go back to sleep, and decided to just head down and see the line for myself.

Well, I pulled up the Palm Springs ATT store at 6:00 and there was one lady there already, she didn’t look prepared for a 12 stint in the sun, and come to find out that she thought the phones went on sale at 6:00 am, not 6 PM.  She took off immediately and I was left alone, by myself, at the front of the line for the next 3 hours.

By 12:30 there were 3 of us there waiting, we spent alot of time chatting it up inside the store with the ATT sales reps, although they wouldn’t give us any information about the phones at all.  Around 3:30 a few more people started showing up and by 4:30 there was a full blown line.  The local news media all showed up and started talking to people in line.  Of course, they wanted an interview from the first person in line who was dumb enough to wait 12 hours in the heat, me.

I tried to avoid it, but the store managers talked me into offering a few interviews.  I ended up on a couple of local stations and they even did a live broadcast with me from the line.  It was very interesting to be the focus of so much attention when all I wanted was to get my iPhone and go home.  They also had a big story in the local paper this morning, The Desert Sun, with pictures and other stuff.

I was the first one in the store at 6:00 and everyone was very cool about it.  I got my phone, and the regional manager took his picture with me, and then i went home to check it out.

It really is the most amazing piece of technology.  It works so flawlessly.  My old Palm Treo can’t even do half of what this iPhone is capable of.  It is so amazing to go to the grocery store and get an e-mail while i’m there, check the internet, and then make some phone calls, all with this beautiful device that fits so well in my pocket.

All in all, it was totally worth it.  I LOVE this thing, can’t wait to use it every day.

It’s 8:45 am on June 29.  I expected to see a small line of people in front of my local ATT store waiting for the iPhone, but when I got here at 6:00, I was the only one!  There’s over 150 in NY and San Francisco, what’s up with that?!  I’m guessing the 115 heat today isn’t going to be fun, it’s already about 95 out here.  I can’t wait though, I should be the first one here to get it!  Yea!

Michelle and I got an exclusive invite to an intimate evening Friday night with a little band called Ozomatli.  Actually, they’re a pretty big band that we saw about 4 years ago (thanks Doug and Karem) and we’ve really enjoyed them ever since.

What made this amazing was the location and circumstances.  It was a restaurant smaller than our house with only about 50 other people there.  We got free food, awesome music, and a sweet meet and greet with the band after the show.  It’s definitely a once in a lifetime experience.  Big shoutout to Mix 100.5 for the free show and Ozomatli.

While playing I-Spy on a long car trip:

Evan: “I Spy something that’s a sphere and goes round and round.”

Michelle: “Um, that balloon? “

Evan: “Nope.”

Michelle: “Hmm, I don’t see any other spheres nearby.  What is it?”

Evan: “The Earth!”
