Our recent trip to Boston was AWESOME! Not only did we get to see two of our good friends get married, but we also got to see almost all the sights and visit two new states.
We took the red eye from Vegas, yup, Las Vegas. What can I say, the tickets were WAY cheaper and we wanted to go for a couple hours to play slots and walk the strip. Even on a Wed night it was packed. We rode the Gondolas in the Venetian and I gave Michelle a very special anniversary gift. Everyone thought I was proposing to her, but she recently lost her wedding ring, so I gave her a new, better one.
The flight was miserable, and we were both super tired when we landed thurs morning, but we had reservations on the Duck tours where you ride a truck through the city and then they drive into the river. We headed to the pick up point, and after getting slightly misdirected by traffic, we finally found the Discovery Museum. We were early, so we walked around and found a little deli-like restaurant where we had breakfast.
As soon as we sat down to eat, it started pouring rain, with huge booming thunder and lightning. We had to walk back to the museum in the rain, and it was just dumping buckets for a while. But as soon as we started the tour, it stopped, and we had a very pleasant time.
That afternoon we headed to the hotel and took naps before the rehersal dinner that evening when we all went to a very nice restaurant somewhere in Mass.
The next day we made our way to Plymouth rock. It’s a rock. About 4 feet wide, that’s it. Now I just saved you a trip to Plymouth. We also walked around on the Mayflower II, a replica of the original. Michelle was slightly wierded out by the actors pretending to be Pilgrims. It was raining again, so we just drove down to Cape Cod and walked on the beach and picked up some East Coast sea shells.
That night was full of action and excitement as we had pizza in a local pizza joint, and watched a movie on the hotel pay per view. Even though I pahked the cah and tried to sound like I was from Bahston, we still got stuck in the corner of the restaurant by ourselves where the non-locals obviously get stuck. Food was good though.
Saturday we took a trip south to Rhode Island and toured the Battleship Row, where they have a few decomissioned ships and a submarine that you could explore. It was facinating to see how the Navy works and lives, and some of those spaces are extremely tight and almost scary.
Then we ended up at a topiary where the bushes look like animals, and we toured a mansion that was very amazing. Worried about being late for the wedding, we headed back to the hotel and got ready.
That night was the ceremony, it was very nice. It was under tents because of all the rain, and there were about 250 people there. We had a great time and enjoyed ourselves immensely.
Finally on Sunday we went back to the wedding site and had a brunch with Matt and Jen and their family, and then drove back to Boston for more sight seeing. We walked part of the freedom trail and toured Boston Commons. The highlights were Feniuel Square, watching a little league game in the pahk, and Old Ironsides, where we had Lunch at a nice little cafe before heading back to the airport.
Our flight left at 8 ish and landed at 11:30 Vegas time, where we had to drive all the way home. We pulled in at 4:00 am, and then I went to work that morning at 7:00.
The trip was both of our first times to the North East, and we had a great time. We even talked about what it would be like to live there someday. The traveling was rough, but in the end it was totally worth it.
We finally own our own house!!! We moved in right at the end of September and it is awesome! I’ll have some new pictures up soon, but the house is in Desert Hot Springs, and it is close to my high school for work.
It’s about 1500 sq ft, 3bd, 2bath, with tile and hardwood floors. The lot is HUGE with a gigantic back yard and a beautiful view of Mt. San Jacinto.
